What are the requirements of PMP certification exam?

PMP Project Management certification exam eligibility requirements. Know what all required to get PMP certified. PMP is a professional exam for project managers who are experienced and have the qualification. This program helps to ensure high standards for professionals in this field. To complete the PMP certification process, candidates should come under either of the below mentioned two categories.

Category I
Candidates holding a baccalaureate or equivalent university degree


Candidates with a minimum of 4,500 hours (at least 3 years) of project management experience within the five (5) process groups within the last 6 years. Candidates must indicate at least thirty-six (36) unique (non-overlapping) months of project management experience to satisfy the three-year (3) requirement.

Category 2
Candidates with no baccalaureate or equivalent university degree


Such candidates should hold a high school diploma or equivalent secondary school credential. He or she should have e minimum of 7,500 hours (at least 5 years) of project management experience within the five (5) process groups within the last 8 years. Candidates must indicate at least sixty (60) unique (non-overlapping) months of project management experience to satisfy the five-year (5) requirement.

Once qualified, candidates can apply online by completing the application form available at PMI website. Three forms (PMP certification examination application form, education form, and experience verification form) to be completed and a particular fee to be paid for PMI member and non-members. It may take about 15 days to process the application and for approval. Once approved, candidates are allowed to take exam within six months time.
